BIRDS 🐦

 

                     Birds are flying creatures. They have wings and feathers which help them to fly. Their are wings are very strong. The feathers keep them warm. Not all the birds can fly. There are some birds that can not fly. They have feathers but the wings are very small. However they can run. For example Penguin that lives in the northern regions can not fly. Some birds are very beautiful. There are ugly birds also. There are small birds and big birds. Sparrow is a small bird. Peacock is quite big.

                     Parrot is a beautiful bird. It is of different colors. The common parrot is green. It legs are yellow and the beak is red and crooked and the eyes are beautiful. Some parrots have a red ring round their neck. They make their nest in decayed trees. Some people rear parrots. They keep them in cages. Some parrots are taught to speek. Some time they utter certain words.

                    Myna is another bird that is reared by people. It is also taught to speek. It has black feathers. It beak is small and yellow. It eats fruits and nuts. There is another bird that resembles Myna. That is called Selalohiniya. It also can speek.

                  Crow is a common bird in Sri Lanka. It lives everywhere in the country. It is an ugly bird. It eats anything that comes on its way. It likes to be near garbage. Some tikes people it the scavenger, because it takes all way all the dirty things. It can not make fine nests. It makes the nest on the branch of tree. However the crow gets up early in the morning. The first bird that comes to the garden is the crow.

                   Cuckoo is not a beautiful bird but it sings sweetly. It is a black bird. The male bird has white dots on its feathers. It eats fruits and nuts. It usually sings at the dawn of the Sinhala New Year. It usually start to sing at the beginning of March and goes on until the end of April. 

                  There are carnivores birds also. Owl and Eagle are carnivores birds. Eagles fly very high up in the sky. They live in forest and some times they are seen in gardens.
